The City's financial statements are audited by an external accounting firm which specializes in municipal audits. Every year, the City submits its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) to the Government Finance Officer's Association (GROA) for review.

The City of Dallas has been awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the last fifteen years.
