Travel Salem has produced a new video showcasing Polk County. Polk County is located in Oregon's Mid-Willamette Valley. It's a remarkable place where social hour is held at the vineyard, stars outshine street lights and going to the market means meeting the farmer. Plan your trip to Dallas now!

  1. fee

Public safety in Dallas is statistically short-staffed. The administrators of the Dallas Police Department and Dallas Fire & EMS Department requested additional personnel this year during the recent FY18/19 budget process. The requests could not be granted as presented due to revenue limitations. The chiefs were requested to present to the City Council an alternative proposal for consideration which could help fund a portion of the needed staff.

Within the next few weeks, the Dallas City Council will be considering proposals by the Dallas Police Department and Dallas Fire & EMS. Service fees proposed by the departments would fund two additional police officers and two additional firefighter/paramedics. These types of fees are becoming increasingly common—over 45 Oregon communities supplement their General Fund budgets in a similar manner to support public safety needs.

The combined amount of both proposed fees is under $5 per month (2.36 for Fire/EMS and 2.59 for police). These funds are dedicated to public safety. Please review the informational flyers for details of a proposed Police Services Fee and a Fire/EMS Services Fee. We hope to discuss this with many community members over the next few weeks and we’re genuinely interested in your feedback. Email comments may be sent to: fee.suggestions@dallasor.gov

Thank you for taking a moment to consider this proposal.

  1. building

The City of Dallas strives to provide excellent customer service for permit holders by having a welcoming, pleasant, and fair workplace.  At this time we are experiencing some temporary staffing changes in the building department that may affect our ability to maintain the service level you have come to expect. We are currently recruiting a full-time employee for the building department, but need to make some temporary adjustments until the position is filled.

To allow dedicated plan review time in concert with required inspections, we are temporarily adjusting our weekly inspection schedule.
Starting Friday, June 22, 2018, until further notice, we will not be scheduling inspections on Fridays as this day will be devoted to plan review. Office hours will not change (see current hours listed below).  On Fridays, we will continue to receive plans and issue permits, but drop-in consultation will not be available.

Our usual office hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; and Friday 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

We hope you understand this is a temporary inspection schedule change only until the building department is adequately staffed.
